Be cautious to avoid tech snags during power generation: Bhatti tells officials

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has directed the officials to take all precautions to prevent techical problems in power generation.

Bhatti held a meeting to review the works under the aegis of Transco, Genco, SPDCL, NPDCL at Mahatma Jyothiba Pule Praja Bhavan here on Wednesday.

On the occasion, he suggested that a three-member committee be constituted to solve the technical snags in the power generation units operated by the Genco.

This committee should go to the field level to study the technical problems and give a report on measures to be taken to resolve them.

The Genco CMD should take a decision based on the committee report to prevent any disruption in power generation, Bhatti said.

"The technical committee is examining the issue of whether to undertake repairs to the generator transformer in Bhadradri Thermal Power Station unit- 1 or purchase a new one," Bhatti Vikramarka said.

He instructed the officials to submit a report without fail on implementation of decisions taken by the previous BRS government before December, 2023, adding that the CMDs should necessarily consult the Energy Secretary before implementing the decisions.

The Deputy Chief Minister who is also Minister for Energy made it clear to the officials to bring any technical problems that arise in hydel power stations immediately to his notice and no neglect should be shown in these issues.

Inquiring about implementation of Gruha Jyothi scheme by SPDCL and NPDCL , he instructed the officials to give an opportunity to those eligible persons who did not apply earlier under the scheme and extend the scheme to them.

Bhatti categorically sought a detailed report from officials on how many Mega Watts of power was being used for Kaleswaram and other lift irrigation projects and how much expenditure was being incurred on it.

The review meeting was attended by Energy Secretary Sundeep Kumar Sultania, SPDCL CMD Musharaff Ali, NPDCL CMD Varun Reddy, Transco Joint Managing Director Srinivasa Rao and others.
